Hot Buttered Apple Cider
1/3 Cup packed brown sugar
7 cups apple cider or juice
4 sticks cinnamon
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon whole allspice
1 lemon peel cuit into strips
1 1/2 cups Rum
Butter or Margarine
Thin Apple Slices
Combine Apple cider or juice and brown sugar in a large saucepan. For spice bag, tie allspice, cinnamon, cloves, and lemon peel in a 7 in. square of cheesecloth. Add spice bag to mixture. Bring cider mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 15 minutes. Remove and throw out spice bag. Stif in rum, pour cider mixture into mugs. Float 1/2 teaspoon butter or margarine on each. Top each serving with 1 or 2 thin apple slices. Makes approximately 10 servings.
